Lunch, diner, ijs, etc

La Grande Mamma, located in the Main Square, at the corner of St. Anna and Wiślna streets, is now open. In a 17th century building with beautiful vaults and antique portals, we have created a place where one can taste the authentic Italian cuisine in beautiful interiors and friendly atmosphere. It is here, in our open kitchen, that sweet treats and thin crust pizza are being baked in plain view of our guests. We want dishes served at La Grande Mamma to be a delight for all senses, therefore we care not only for their authentic Italian flavour, but also for the way of serving them, for an appropriate choice of wines for every dish, and that our menu be diverse in terms of flavours and preferences of the guests. Our Head Chef, Robert Koczwara, guarantees the highest quality of food and creates the menu, just like he has been doing since the beginnings of Mamma Mia!, our first Italian restaurant. Our managers, with whom we have worked for years, care especially for the well-being of our honourable guests.

La Grande Mamma is a special place in many ways: it has wonderful sights on the Krakow Main Square, intimate and friendly interiors, excellent service, perfect selection of wines, and, last but not least, fantastic food, which is the most important thing we work on every day.

Pub Galeria Wręga

Pub-Galeria Wręga is located in the touristically attractive Kazimierz district. The historic interiors welcome visitors with medieval brick walls and stylish wooden ceilings. There are numerous art exhibitions held on the premises, while good acoustics makes for a perfect place for a live concert, too.
Wręga specialises in traditional cuisine, with a good selection of beer and other drinks complementing the menu. We also have one of the largest and most beautiful beer gardens in Kazimierz, as well as one smoking room.

Bunkier Cafe

Bunkier Cafe is one of a kind – with a garden in the middle of the Planty Gardens open all year round. The transparent walls are open in warm weather, and lowered when it’s cooler.
You could order a delicious coffee or an exceptional unpasteurised draught beer. You could also order a salad, a burger or a slice of delicious cake. In summer there’s also ice cream.

2 Okna Cafe

Next to the High Synagogue, this charming and artistic cafe presents an ideal place to idly pass the time, catch up with a friend, or get caught up on work. With no less than four seating areas to choose from, from the sunny streetside tables to the cool, green garden in the back (certainly one of the best places in town to disappear with a coffee and a book), in between is a gallery space with an avant garde angle. As such, vernissages occur often, as do concerts – check FB to see what’s on.
The menu offers a humble array of breakfast bites (Cracovian bagels with hummus, shakshuka, fried eggs, quiche, oatmeal, cakes and pastries), tapas and Spanish empanadas, plus fresh-squeezed juices, smoothies, wine, coffee and beer; catch a live piano recital every Tues morning. Overall there’s a very low-key, friendly and international atmosphere to this place.

Restauracja Polska

ORZO Restauracja

Literally a breath of fresh air in industrial Zabłocie (and next door to MOCAK and Schindler’s Factory), Orzo has transformed this large charred factory space into an urban oasis of big windows, blonde woods, green walls and potted plants that actually clean the air inside. The menu is an exciting, eclectic, fusion-flecked affair full of fresh salad bowls and vegan options, sandwiches and burgers, pizza, pasta and steaks – everything from Prosecco shrimp to lime quinoa salad – and the house orzo (rice-shaped pasta) adds colour to certain dishes to great effect. There’s lots of seasonal outside seating, daily specials and promotions, and on weekends they even have organised activities for kids (13:00-18:00). Overseen by a large team of young, attentive staff, the space is subtly divided between restaurant and bar, with a lively after-work atmosphere around the large bar as DJs take the decks early on weekends, laying down fluid grooves as upstarts from the local start-up scene drink smoked cocktails, sweet mocktails, boozy infusions, custom lemonades, veggie smoothies and more. Full of bright smiles and bouncy music, Orzo balances smart urbanity with joie de vivre in a way we didn’t realise we were missing until we stepped inside.

Forum Przestrzenie

Opening in the formerly abandoned, monstrous and much-maligned Forum Hotel, Forum Przestrzenie immediately vaults itself to the top of the list of Kraków’s most original, intriguing and hip locales, without even really trying (not caring is the key to being ‘cool’ after all). The owners have simply added dozens of beach chairs, bean bags, retro sofas and a bit of graffiti art to the original interiors and vintage neon signs of the reception area, assembled a competent kitchen to create stellar sandwiches, salads and pizzas, stocked the bar with good beer, and watched the talented, tattooed post-college crowd (“hipsters” you might call them) turn this vast riverside cafe/bar/bistro into one of the trendiest places to be day or night. With great views and plenty of space, when it’s warm their huge terrace is sprawling with beach chairs, while inside there’s enough room for ping-pong tables. With regular events, weekend DJ parties and the Hala Forum food market next door, there’s no dispute that Forum is Kraków’s top riverside hangout spot.

Ogniem i Mieczem

If you dream of being transported back to the seventeenth century, to the resplendent rusticity of the old Commonwealth borderlands – where the textures, colours, tastes and music of Polish, Lithuanian and Ukrainian culture collide – then Ogniem i Mieczem is for you.

Guests are invited to sit down to a traditional feast in one of four exquisitely recreated rooms, to the strains of old Polish, Lithuanian and Ukrainian folk music and a crackling fire in the hearth. The walls and corners are adorned with heavy skillets, sheaves of hay, old wooden tools and household instruments, including a spinning wheel, churns and even a hussar’s suit of armour. Rough wooden tables and benches are lit by thick candles in pewter candlesticks and heavy iron candelabra. Animal skins are stretched taut under old portraits. Even the waitresses’ attire is a work of costume art taken straight out of Sienkiewicz’s book.

Wodka Bar Krakow

Poles take their vodka seriously, and this tiny enclave takes it more seriously than most by offering some 100 different flavours – from chocolate to chili, earl grey to blackthorn (Tarninówka). A great place to participate in Poland’s favourite past time by grabbing a shot on the go, the atmospheric lofted interior would be cosy (and sometimes is on weekday afternoons) if it wasn’t full of loud tourists. If you’re able to score a table, share a sampling raft of 6 or more shots with your friends; just don’t make plans for the following day.

They will serve you (almost) every liquor that deserves tasting. Specialised in world famous polish vodkas.

Ijs:

Tiffany

Good Lood
