Het is sinds 1922 de hoofdstad van Noord-Ierland, en het is de hoofdstad van County Antrim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De naam Belfast stamt van het Iers <em>B\u00e9al Feirste<\/em>, ofwel <em>monding van de Farset<\/em>, de rivier waaromheen de stad is gebouwd.
