Het pretpark was eigendom van het moederbedrijf van Paramount Pictures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paramount&#8217;s Great America was een van de drie grote attractieparken in de San Francisco Bay Area; de anderen zijn Six Flags Marine World in Vallejo en de Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk in Santa Cruz. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Great_america1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19944\" width=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Great_america1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Great_america1-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Great_america1-150x113.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Het pretpark opende in 1976 onder de naam <em>Marriott&#8217;s Great America<\/em>. De eigenaars, de Marriott-hotelketen, openden tegelijkertijd een zusterpark in Illinois, dat sinds 1985 Six Flags Great America heet. Ook in 1985 kwam het Californische park na een juridische strijd in handen van de stad Santa Clara. In 1987 werd Kings Entertainment Company de nieuwe eigenaar. Dat bedrijf verkocht Great America in 1993 aan het moederbedrijf van Paramount Pictures, waardoor het pretpark verderging onder de naam <em>Paramount&#8217;s Great America<\/em>. Een jaar later, in 1994, diende het pretpark als decor voor de film Beverly Hills Cop III, die tevens geproduceerd werd door Paramount Pictures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/5201fce01.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19943\" width=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/5201fce01.jpg 543w, https:\/\/oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/5201fce01-300x255.jpg 300w, https:\/\/oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/5201fce01-150x128.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 543px) 100vw, 543px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2001was de top attractie van het park, de door Vekoma gebouwde flying coaster Stealth, welke een jaar eerder voor het publiek geopend was.
