De Romeinen gebruikten Verona als uitvalsbasis voor hun veldtochten naar het noorden, over de Alpen. Na Rome heeft Verona de meeste bouwwerken uit de Romeinse periode. In 1239 overstroomde de stad, waarna zij herbouwd werd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bezienswaardigheden:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>De Arena, een <b>Romeinse amfitheater<\/b> uit de 1e eeuw na Christus.<\/li><li>De <b>Arche Scaligere<\/b>, een indrukwekkende groep van vijf Gotische monumenten van de machtige della Scala dynastie<\/li><li>De <b>Ponte Pietra<\/b>, een Romeinse brug uit de 1e eeuw v.
