De nieuwe naam voor het park werd hierna Universal&#8217;s Port Aventura.<br>In 1999 voegde Universal de wereldwijd gewaardeerde FiestaVentura show toe aan het park, een heel populaire show met licht-, water- en geluidseffecten, vuurwerk en een waterparade, waarmee elke dag in de zomer word afgesloten op het grote meer in het Mediterr\u00e0nia themagebied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/portaventura-mapaparque111.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"860\" src=\"https:\/\/oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/portaventura-mapaparque111-1024x860.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10676\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/portaventura-mapaparque111-1024x860.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/portaventura-mapaparque111-300x252.jpg 300w, https:\/\/oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/portaventura-mapaparque111-768x645.jpg 768w, https:\/\/oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/portaventura-mapaparque111-150x126.jpg 150w, https:\/\/oldehanhoff.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/portaventura-mapaparque111.jpg 1127w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2000 volgde de volgende nieuwe toevoeging onder de regie van Universal, namelijk de 3D simulator Sea Odyssey, gevold door special effects show Templo Del Fuego in 2001.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2002 breidde Universal het PortAventura park uit tot een volledig resort, dankzij de toevoeging van waterpark Costa Caribe en de eerste 2 park hotels, Hotel PortAventura in mediterraans thema\u00a0en\u00a0Hotel El Paso in een Mexicaans thema.<br>De naam van het nieuwe resort werd Universal Mediterranea.<br>In 2003 volgde het 3e park hotel, Hotel Caribe, volledig in het thema van de Caribean en passend bij het waterpark. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">T\/m eind 2004 was Universal Studios nog mede eigenaar van het resort, maar in de loop van dat jaar hebben ze al hun aandelen in het resort verkocht. Ondanks dit nieuws, is de uitbreiding in 2005 aan het PortAventura park, nog wel van de hand van Universal.
